In the spring of 2005, a group
of Grand Isle camp owners and
fishing friends met to discuss
organizing a group focused
on the Jewel of the Louisiana
Gulf Coast, Grand Isle. Then
the hurricanes spawned their
wrath on coastal Louisiana,
and our jewel was severely
impacted. Another meeting was
called regarding the status
of the island. An overwhelming
surge of emotions and a willingness
to help surfaced. Friends of
Grand Isle Inc. was born as
a non profit organization,
officers were elected, and
people went to work with the
purpose of assisting residents
and businesses on the island.
"Friends of Grand Isle" has their
Annual meeting at the Grand
Isle Community Center on June
6th, 2009 at 4:30 pm. Please
RSVP by May 29th, 2009 to Sharon
O'Neill.
"The Gulf Cup Rodeo", the primary
fundraiser for FOGI is July
17th and 18th at Bridge-Side
Marina on Grand ISle. Tickets
are $20 and can be purchased
from FOGI board members or
at Bridge Side Marina.

- Lessen the burden of government
organizations in Grand
